Department of Library & Inf. Sc.

The Department came into existence in 1960 on the recommendations of the UGC Library Committee (1959).
Padma Shri Dr. Syed Bashir Uddin was the first teacher in the department.
It is one of the oldest Library Schools in the country. The department offers B. Lib. & Inf. Sc, M. Lib. & Inf. Sc. and Ph.D. courses. A number of ex-students of this department served and still serving at senior positions in the country and abroad in premier and prestigious institutions. To keep abreast of latest trends in the subject, the syllabi forboth MLIS & BLIS are continuously revised.
