Department of Geology

Geology PG classes were started in 1985 in Maharaja College. It was given independent status of 5 department in 1987 and was shifted to its own building in the University campus during 1989. Department has received number of research projects from various agencies, international collaborations and has publications in peer reviewed journals of high impact factor, making it one of the premier geology departments in Rajasthan state. The major contribution of the department has been in the fields of geochemistry, tectonics, palaeontology, isotope geochemistry, hydrogeology, water resource management etc. The departmental museum has an impressive collection of rocks, minerals and fossils from across the India. At present, the Department runs M.Sc. and Ph.D. Programmes.
