UNICEF, Rajasthan had recognized the Department as State Centre of Excellence (SCOE) for Nutrition in July 2019.
The Department is engaged in community out reach projects in collaboration with various Government Departments, Non-Government organizations and International Agencies such as UNICEF, DWCD, NHM, CARE, DST, Prayas, DISHA and UMANG. Areas of work are nutrition and health of vulnerable groups, clinical nutrition; holistic wellness and human development across life span, children with special needs; apparel designing for special needs, innovative textile designing, waste management etc.

The Department of Home Science was established in 1985. The Department offers post-graduation in 3 subjects i.e., Foods and Human Nutrition, Human Development and Family, and Development Communication and Extension. The Department also offers Ph.D. programmes in Foods and Human Nutrition, Human Development and Family. Development Communication and Extension, Clothing and Textiles, and Family Resource Management. The undergraduate courses include B.Sc. Home Science; and B.A. Home Science as a subject are offered at University Maharani College.
